Magellan will require providers to submit their National Provider Identifier (NPI) on all HIPAA-standard electronic transactions beginning May 23, 2008. This is the date that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) one-year contingency period (or “grace” period) ends.
