Southeast Care Management Center Earns Full NCQA Accreditation
Magellan’s Southeast Care Management Center recently renewed its three-year, Full Managed Behavioral Health Care Organization (MBHO) accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), receiving a score of 99.72 out of 100 possible points on its review. The Southeast Care Management Center has held full accreditation status since 1999.
The NCQA review assessed our work related to quality improvement, credentialing and re-credentialing, enrollees’ rights and responsibilities, utilization management and preventive health programming.

The reviewers were particularly impressed with the Southeast Care Management Center’s:
- Involvement of practitioners in all aspects of quality
- Standardization and integration of organization policies and procedures
- Commitment to member satisfaction
- Detailed quality improvement evaluation
- Efficient, well-documented credentialing files
- Well-documented appeal files
- Second-generation antipsychotic medication quality improvement initiative.

One of the strengths of the Southeast Care Management Center is in fully integrating practitioner and health plan participation in the quality process by inviting them to participate on Quality Improvement Committees. Practitioners also participate on subcommittees dealing with practitioner credentialing/re-credentialing, practice guidelines, quality of care concerns, member satisfaction and communication, provider satisfaction and provider communication.
