Magellan and Nebraska Medicaid Outline New Outpatient Authorization Management Processes
Effective March 2, 2009, Magellan Health Services of Nebraska and Nebraska Medicaid initiated new outpatient authorization management processes.
As part of these changes, Magellan no longer authorizes a “package” of outpatient services. Providers are able to obtain additional outpatient sessions only after the Pre-Treatment Assessment (including the Bio-Psychosocial Assessment, H0002, and the Initial Diagnostic Interview, 90801/H0031 – HO) is completed and providers have attested to its completion.
Other changes to the previous outpatient authorization management processes are as follows:
- Customer Assistance Program (CAP) services have a designated CPT billing code of H0046.
- Crisis services were added to the Nebraska managed care outpatient services array.
- Five new outpatient services are available to address client needs:
- Sex offender risk assessment (H2000-SK)
- Substance abuse evaluation (age 20 and under) (H0001)
- Crisis outpatient individual psychotherapy 45-50 minutes (90806-ET)
- Crisis outpatient individual psychotherapy 75-80 minutes (90808-ET)
- Family psychotherapy (90847-ET).
