Magellan Behavioral Care of Iowa Offers Electronic Claim Submission Options

All of Magellan’s time-saving, user-friendly claims tools are designed to eliminate paperwork, while supporting accurate, timely claims payment.

Please forward this information to your billing department.

Did you know?

You can submit claims electronically for:

  1. All behavioral health services that are billed with standard HIPAA-compliant codes, including no-show codes W3500 and W3501. Magellan’s Direct Submit, Claims Courier and all of our contracted EDI clearinghouses (except Emdeon) accept claims billed electronically with W3500 and W3501. Please note that the preferred code for no-shows is H0046.
  2. Secondary coordination of benefits (COB) claims that include the necessary COB information indicated on the claim.
  3. Claims that you must correct or void, or that were originally rejected and never processed. A corrected claim must have a "7" or "8" in the CLM05-03 field to indicate corrected or voided claim. If the claim was originally rejected and never processed by Magellan and is within the timeliness standard, the claim can be submitted with a "1" indicating original claim.

For further information, review the Electronic Claims Submission presentation from the Iowa Plan Provider Roundtable on April 16, 2009.
