Care Management Centers Receive URAC Accreditation
Eleven of Magellan’s Care Management Centers have been re-accredited by URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry.
The centers were awarded health utilization management accreditation under standards that require clinically sound processes that respect members’ and providers’ rights. Six of the centers also were awarded case management accreditation under standards to improve treatment outcomes by coordinating services under the full continuum of care. These accreditations demonstrate Magellan’s compliance with URAC’s high standards and underscore the quality of our work with customers, members and providers, while reinforcing our role as the industry leader.
Magellan was the first managed behavioral health company in the nation to receive case management accreditation under URAC standards and holds more URAC accreditations for health utilization management than any other managed behavioral health care organization. You can find a list of all Magellan accreditations at http://www.magellanhealth.com/market/quality/accredit.
“By applying for and receiving URAC accreditation, Magellan Health Services has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care,” said Alan P. Spielman, URAC president and CEO. “Quality health care is crucial to our nation’s welfare, and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards and undergo rigorous evaluation by an independent accrediting body.”
