New Director Aims to Make Credentialing “First-Class”

In her new role as Magellan’s director of professional credentialing, Madeline Schneikart intends to leverage technology to provide “first-class” service to providers.

With 30 years’ experience in the credentialing arena – having started credentialing programs from “ground zero” for two national corporations – Schneikart understands the importance of utilizing technology, and believes in ensuring that providers are serviced in an appropriate and timely manner.

“I believe that it is my responsibility to make sure Magellan takes advantage of electronic, automated programs in order for us to work faster and smarter for providers,” said Schneikart of her role in overseeing the operations of Magellan’s 42-person Credentialing Verification Organization (CVO) for individual practitioners.

“I am exploring ways to make our operation quicker and more cost-efficient, including implementing new software options to integrate data systems,” said Schneikart. And, she says she is doing all of this with an “eye for providers.”

“We want to provide first-class service to practitioners by shortening credentialing and re-credentialing turnaround times. We also want providers to be able to spend less time on administrative credentialing tasks, and more time on what they do best – treating members,” said Schneikart.

Schneikart says there are many things you can do to help expedite the credentialing process. “Primarily, providers can carefully follow instructions in regard to sending credentialing information, making sure they send Magellan a complete packet,” she said. “This helps tremendously in moving the process forward faster. Our staff spends much time following up with practitioners on information that is incomplete or missing.”
