Changes to CBHA Limitations and Authorization Process
Magellan’s Florida Care Management Center recently announced changes to the Comprehensive Behavioral Health Assessment (CBHA) limitations and authorization process. The CBHA is a covered service under the Child Welfare Prepaid Mental Health Plan for up to 20 hours per recipient, per fiscal year.
For CBHAs referred on or after September 21, 2009, an authorization requirement is now in place if billing is expected to exceed 15 hours for children 6-18 years of age; or to exceed 10 hours for children 0-5, children with no mental health diagnosis or children who are part of sibling groups being assessed.
Providers may complete a form to request the additional hours. To obtain the form, please call 1-800-327-5542.
Magellan of Florida recently conducted a series of Webinars to address providers’ concerns about these changes. If you still have questions or did not receive information about the changes by mail, please contact Debra Nussbaum, DJNussbaum@MagellanHealth.com.
