Members Still Needed for Public Policy Committee
The California Care Management Center needs your help in recruiting members to be a part of our Public Policy Committee.
“The purpose of our Public Policy Committee is to help us respect the comfort, dignity and convenience of members as we assist them in obtaining care,” said Pam Masters, president of Magellan’s California companies*.
“We strongly believe member input is essential to our fulfilling this obligation,” she added.
Participation on this committee gives members the opportunity to:
- Exchange ideas concerning current health care issues
- Recommend health plan revisions to the appropriate Board of Directors for review and possible adoption
- Increase their education of plan benefits and member obligations
- Enhance their awareness and understanding of current health care concerns among members, employers and providers.
Member responsibilities involve attendance at four meetings per year (by telephone or in person) to:
- Review member materials and offer feedback on how to improve the materials
- Receive information on member grievances and offer feedback on how we can change procedures to address major areas of complaint
- Offer general feedback on how we can improve services to members.
Issues discussed in committee meetings are treated in a strictly confidential manner.
Members are eligible to receive a stipend of $150 per year for their committee service. Appointment to the committee is based on open committee positions. To apply, interested members may contact Pam Masters at 310-726-7121 or PJMasters@MagellanHealth.com.
We encourage you to mention this worthwhile opportunity to the Magellan members whom you treat.
