Authorization Needed for Services for FEP Members; Excludes 90862 and Psych Testing
Effective January 1, 2010, all behavioral health services for Federal Employee Plan (FEP) members require authorization. Exceptions continue to exist for 90862* and psychological testing, which do not require authorization.
Please note, this process differs from that for BlueCross BlueShield of Vermont members, which does not require authorization for routine services for the first 10 behavioral health visits. Exception is for code 90808**, which will require authorization effective March 1, 2010.

*Pharmacologic management, including prescription, use, and review of medication with no more than minimal medical psychotherapy
** Individual psychotherapy, insight oriented, behavior modifying and/or supportive, in an office or outpatient facility, approximately 75 to 80 minutes face-to-face with the patient
