Agency Accreditations Encouraged
Magellan encourages all agencies, community mental health centers (CMHCs) and facilities to be accredited. Some Magellan customers even require accreditation to be able to serve their membership. Accreditation also demonstrates to members that your organization takes quality of care seriously and has passed rigorous quality reviews by an outside independent review organization.
Magellan accepts the following accrediting agencies:
- Joint Commission
- Council on Accreditation of Services for Children and Families (COA)
- Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program by the American Osteopathic Association (HFAP)
- Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)
- Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare (AAAHC).
Review the above websites for more information and contact information; representatives from these agencies will be happy to talk about their particular accrediting agency with you. You can decide which accrediting body is right for your organization, based on your services and programs.
Do not forget that you must maintain your accreditation. Periodic evaluation is required for accreditation to remain in good standing. It’s worth the effort! Feel free to call Magellan’s Southeast Care Management Center’s Network department at 1-800-297-7821 for further assistance.
