Frequently Asked Questions About Electronic Remittance Advice
Q. What is Electronic Remittance Advice?
A. The 835, or Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA), is the electronic
method for providers to receive Explanation of Benefits (EOB),
Explanation of Payment (EOP) and claims denial information. Providers
must contact one of the Magellan-preferred clearinghouses to
sign-up for ERA. ERA is offered for all CAPS, Amisys and
ACS accounts. To enroll, you will also need to submit an ERA
form
(PDF
51K).
Q. Will I still receive paper Explanation of Payment (EOP) in the mail?
A. Providers who sign up for ERA will no longer receive paper EOPs via US Mail. All EOP information from December 1, 2004, going forward, will be available on the Magellan website.
Q. How do I find EOP information on the website?
A. Go to www.MagellanHealth.com and click on the green I’m a Provider button. Sign in with your secure username and password and then click Check Claims Status from your My Practice page.
Q. I have signed up for ERA, but would like to also sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). How do I do that?
A.
- From your My Practice page, click Display/Edit Practice Information
- Click Electronic Funds Transfer
- Click Add to enter your information
- Click Save to submit your EFT registration
Upon clicking Save, you will see a confirmation page that you can print for your records. After registering, Magellan will conduct a transmission test with your bank to make sure payments are transferred properly. During this time, you will continue to receive paper checks via US mail.
