Authorizations
I can't find an authorization
Currently, authorizations are available only for outpatient Mental
Health/Substance Abuse services. EAP service authorizations are not accessible
through the authorization inquiry. In addition, only certain of Magellan's
authorization systems currently are available in Authorization Inquiry. If
you are unable to locate a specific authorization, please call the telephone
number on the member's benefit card.

Authorizations that have not been approved
Authorizations without approval will not be displayed in Authorization
Inquiry.

Authorizations for other providers
If the authorization was made to the group practice, you will be able
to view them. If Magellan is required to authorize care to a specific provider
within a group rather than to the group as a whole, the authorizations to the
specific provider may not be viewable by other group users.

Your online authorization is your confirmation that Magellan has authorized
services.

You will be able to view a rolling twelve months of authorization data
in Authorization Inquiry.

There is a delay of approximately one day for authorizations to become
available in Authorization Inquiry.

Why doesn't my authorization appear?
There are several possible explanations as to why your authorization
is not appearing.
- Your authorization request may be in process.
- Your authorization request may not be approved.
- The authorization may have been made to an individual provider as required
by the customer (instead of the group practice or organization with which
the individual provider is affiliated).
- Your authorization was processed on a Magellan system not yet accessible
to Authorization Inquiry.
If you have submitted your authorization request more than 24 hours ago and
it does not appear in Authorization Inquiry, you may wish to call the number
on the Member's benefit card to inquire.
