Help firefighters and dispatchers lead healthy, vibrant lives

Magellan Federal* supports the Federal Wildland Firefighter Behavioral Health Program

Eligble providers are invited to join the Wildland Firefighter Behavioral Health Program provider network to provide mid- to long-term counseling (assessment and up to 16 sessions) to wildland firefighters and dispatchers.

Magellan seeks providers who share a common mission to serve and support the behavioral health of our firefighters and dispatchers.

Provider requirements

To participate in the network, providers must: 

  • Be fully contracted and credentialed with Magellan.
  • Meet certain requirements of the Wildland Firefighter Attestation, including:
    • Be a psychologist, independently licensed master's prepared therapist or social worker.
    • Have two years' post-licensure experience treating mental health concerns, e.g., depression, anxiety, substance use disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder.
    • Maintain a recent clinical practice providing direct patient care for at least three of the past five years.
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be independently licensed by a U.S. state or territory. 
  • Speak fluent English. 
  • Complete the Wildland Firefighter Behavioral Health Program Provider Orientation.
